During the current Government’s term of office, many cutbacks have been made in welfare and people’s income in Finland. You decide what kind of leaders will make decisions in municipalities and wellbeing services counties: will they drive cutback policies or invest in services and the residents’ wellbeing?
Municipalities and wellbeing services counties need decision makers who value employees and public services. When you choose a candidate who is a fellow JHL member, you give your vote to someone who certainly understands your daily life.
What things does voting in the county and municipal elections affect?
Municipalities and wellbeing services counties are responsible for public services that are funded by tax money. These services are the foundation of our welfare state and have a major role in the daily lives of all of us. Many of our members also work in public services.
Public services include for example
- day care and education
- public transport
- water services and waste management
- environmental services, such as maintenance of parks and other green spaces
- technical services
- integration of immigrants
- employment services
- industrial policy
- primary health care (for example health centres)
- specialised health care (for example hospitals)
- social welfare services
- services for children, youth and families
- mental health and substance abuse services
- services for persons with disabilities
- emergency medical services
- rescue services, including for example the duties of fire stations and ambulances.
When you vote for a candidate who is on the side of public services, you indicate that you want public services that work and have enough skilled personnel.
You can save the services of your area and keep people safe from cutbacks. Vote!
