There is still a lot of ground to cover in the energy sector collective agreement negotiations

The collective agreement for the energy, ICT and network sector expired on 31 March. The parties have come closer to each other in their views, but many matters remained unresolved.
The energy, ICT and network sector entered a period without agreement on 1 April. The first meeting of the collective agreement parties after entering the period without agreement was on Wednesday 2 April.
The parties agree on many matters in principle, but there is still ground to cover before a negotiation result is achieved, comments JHL’s Bargaining Specialist Kari Lehtinen who is in charge of the negotiations at JHL.
– For example family leaves, local agreements, pay scales and some text questions require elaboration before they can be settled.
Collective agreement negotiations for the energy sector will continue on Thursday 10 April. By then both parties make their own more detailed propositions.
JHL and the Finnish Electrical Workers´ Union represent the employees, and Service Sector Employers Palta and Finnish Energy represent the employers in these negotiations.
In a period without agreement the parties still follow the terms and conditions of the old collective agreement, and all its stipulations still apply. The parties have to follow the expired agreement until a new agreement comes into force. Industrial action is permitted when a period without agreement has begun.
