The state sector labour dispute moves to the National Conciliator

The collective agreement dispute in the state sector has led into a strike warning on Monday 31 March. This strike warning was immediately followed by an invitation to the National Conciliator’s Office. The National Conciliator will start mediating the dispute on Tuesday 1 April in a meeting from 10 am to 12 pm.
JHL’s negotiators are satisfied that the National Conciliator did not delay taking action to find a solution for the bargaining deadlock.
The Office for the Government as Employer announced in March that it halts the collective agreement negotiations that had started in mid-January. By then, only one pay offer from the employer had been discussed in the negotiations.
- We have been ready to resume the negotiations all the time. It’s good that the National Conciliator reacted so quickly and starts the conciliation, comments JHL’s Senior Bargaining Specialist Harri Turunen.
The role of the National Conciliator is to mediate in labour disputes and to advance the relationships between employers and employees. The Conciliator helps the social partners to find a solution in labour disputes that threaten industrial peace.
Trade Union for the Public and Welfare Sectors JHL, Trade Union Pro and Negotiation Organisation for Public Sector Professionals JUKO represent the employees in these negotiations, and Office for the Government as Employer (VTML) represents the employer.
JHL’s negotiators are Senior Bargaining Specialist Harri Turunen and Bargaining Specialist Teija Wikman.
