Thank you for taking part in JHL’s strikes and protests!
Trade Union JHL and other SAK-affiliated trade unions protested against the Government’s plans to make cuts with numerous strikes, demonstrations, walkouts and publicity stunts since autumn 2023. It’s now time to thank all our members who have been involved either by participating in action or by expressing support to others. We will continue our work for your terms and conditions of employment.
JHL and other SAK-affiliated trade unions have suspended political strikes on Monday 8 April. Strikes were organised several times, most recently in the export sector. That strike began on 11 March.
Strike action began in late 2023
Trade Union JHL has organised strikes for example at airports and ports and in public transport, early childhood education and care, sports facilities and catering services.
JHL has also organised numerous walkouts, publicity stunts, demonstrations and events around Finland together with local branches and members. We have made ourselves heard from the Senate Square in Helsinki to the squares in Rovaniemi.
All this has been possible only because you, JHL member, have been ready to defend the common good of us all and decent terms and conditions of employment. We want to thank everyone who has participated.
JHL has suspended strike action for now, but we continue to work for our members. The Minister of Employment Arto Satonen (National Coalition Party) has said that there will be no discussions with the trade unions while the strikes are on. Now the strikes have paused. It’s time for the Government to seek balance and listen to the needs of the employees as well.
