Thank you for helping to save services in the county and municipal elections 2025

The results of the county and municipal elections show that the voters want to have good-quality public services also in the future. The cutback policy should end and be replaced with investing into residents’ and employees’ wellbeing.
The county and municipal elections 2025 were a victory for saving services! Based on the election results, the voters have had enough of the Finnish Government’s policy that ruthlessly cuts the public services that hold our welfare state together.
The Prime Minister’s party National Coalition fell to the second place in the county and municipal elections. The winner was the Social Democratic Party.
– The voters around the country challenged the Government’s cutback policy. Public services are valued, comments JHL’s Head of Public Affairs Vesa Mauriala on the election result.
The voter turnout was 51.7% in the county elections and 54.2% in the municipal elections. You can view the details of your municipality and wellbeing services county in Yle’s elections results service.
Thank you for helping to save services
We want to thank every member who stood as a candidate for their campaign work. It is extremely important to have many candidates who understand the everyday life of employees and value public services.
– Candidates with JHL background did very well in many municipalities. Generally speaking, we can expect a little more humane decision-making and appreciation of employees, Mauriala rejoices.
We also give a huge thank you to every JHL member who participated in these important elections by voting, distributing the trade union’s materials, organising events and encouraging others to vote.
Everyone should be proud and happy for taking part in saving services in their own way.

JHL is always on the side of employees and public services
The elections are over, but JHL works for employees and public services every day and every week of the year.
The election results show that people want investments into the services of wellbeing services counties. However, the counties that produce social welfare and health care services are in financial control of the Ministry of Finance, and therefore the decisions of the country’s Government will continue to affect them.
– Trade Union JHL appeals to the Government that it should not introduce more cutbacks to public services in the coming spending limits session. That is the will of the people, Mauriala emphasises.
JHL works to influence political decision-making in various ways (link in Finnish). We interact with the Finnish Government and Parliament and the ministries. We are there when laws are drafted. We present our views also in the places where decisions for municipalities and wellbeing services counties are made.
We are always on your side. We take care of your rights in working life, and we work to make Finland just and fair. Workers’ voice must be heard in society. We are stronger together – join us!

JHL is active
Influencing in political decision-making is an important aspect of our activity. It is one of the ways we take care of our members and improve their position in working life and society.
