No result in the negotiations on a new collective agreement for universities – Finnish Education Employers needs to take the next step

The employer party seems unwilling to genuine negotiating on the collective agreement for universities. The employee party is ready to continue discussion when the employers can present constructive propositions for those issues where the negotiations are stuck.
No solution was found in the collective agreement negotiations for universities on Monday, and the day's negotiations ended with no result. Despite several negotiation meetings and extra negotiating time, the parties are still very far from finding an agreement.
– The employer party keeps the situation in a deadlock and has not presented proposals that we could genuinely negotiate on. We would like to proceed towards a new collective agreement by negotiating, but that is challenging in this situation, explains JHL’s Bargaining Specialist Matti Sallila.
Negotiations can continue, when the employer party is ready to find a solution
New negotiation meetings have not been scheduled. JHL waits for the employer organisation Finnish Education Employers (FEE) to show initiative in finding a solution.
– We have expressed from the start of the negotiations that we do not accept negative changes in the collective agreement or lower across-the-board pay rises than the general level. We will resume the negotiations when the other party can present constructive propositions for those issues where the negotiations are stuck.
If the negotiations do not progress, there is a possibility of industrial action to speed things up.
The Trade Union for the Public and Welfare Sectors JHL, the Negotiation Organisation for Public Sector Professionals JUKO, and Trade Union Pro represent the employees in the collective agreement negotiations for universities, and Finnish Education Employers represents the employers.
