Negotiations on a collective agreement for the private early childhood education and care sector have continued

Collective agreement negotiations for this sector are spread over many months. The next meeting for discussing the agreement will be in May.

Trade Union JHL continues persistently negotiations on a collective agreement for the private early childhood education and care sector. JHL, Finnish Education Employers (FEE), Trade Union of Education OAJ, The Finnish Union of Practical Nurses SuPer and Talentia Union of Professional Social Workers returned to negotiation table on Monday 24 March after a month’s break in negotiations.

The negotiations have progressed in a constructive atmosphere, and the basic structure of the collective agreement is mostly ready. However, there are still subject areas where the representatives of the employees and employers stand far from each other. The parties will meet again to seek for a solution in May.

– Things will be resolved, but getting there still requires tenacious negotiating, says JHL’s Senior Bargaining Specialist Hanna Katajamäki.

The collective agreement negotiations for the private early childhood education and care sector (ECEC) started in September 2024. There are about 10,000 employees working in the private ECEC sector.

This sector has not had its own collective agreement before. Instead, the sector has applied for example the collective agreement for the private social services sector.
