JHL will start an investigation on possibly detaching itself from the Central Organisation of Finnish Trade Unions SAK
In its meeting on 22 November, central organisation SAK’s Executive Board did not accept JHL as its representative to discuss the new labour market model. JHL will start an investigation on detaching itself from SAK.
The employers invited the employees to discuss the new labour market and pay model. The event will be held on 24 November. The employers asked SAK to name one representative from a maximum of five member unions of SAK. The member unions represent private or public sector trade unions. Central organisations were not invited to the event because they do not negotiate collective agreements.
On 22 November, SAK’s Executive Board decided it will not name a JHL representative to be a participant in the above-mentioned event. For this reason, JHL’s Executive Committee has decided to start an investigation on the possibility of JHL detaching itself from SAK.
JHL negotiates independently on its members’ terms and conditions of employment without any limits set by others or coordination. That is the only way to safeguard the status of our members. The unions’ autonomy to negotiate and freely agree on the content of collective agreements, and on pay raises, must not be limited in any way.
Collective agreement negotiations are conducted between the employers and employees. SAK is not a contracting party. Despite the investigation, JHL will continue to be actively involved in #SeriousGrounds influencing. Resisting the policy that brings misery and making a difference to legislation is our shared goal.
