Three candidates for JHL president, one person withdrew himself
Three people have expressed their interest in becoming the president of the Trade Union for the Public and Welfare Sectors JHL. One person withdrew himself from the election process. The new president will be elected on 8 February.
Those interested in the assignment of Trade Union JHL president were asked to sign up by 8 January. Three candidates have expressed their desire for the assignment.
The Union Council will elect the JHL president in its extraordinary meeting on 8 February in Helsinki. The president will be elected for the remaining Union Council term of office, until summer 2027. The Union Council is the union’s highest executive body.
The president position is available as a result of Päivi Niemi-Laine resigning from her post in November.
The candidates for JHL president:
Håkan Ekström
interim president, chief executive officer / JHL
In case the Union Council will elect Ekström as union president, a new chief executive officer will also be elected in the meeting.
Mari Keturi
executive director / JUKO
Keturi used to work at JHL as a bargaining director.
Teemu Tapio Toppinen
personal assistant, occupational safety and health representative, regional shop steward / Med Group Oy Onnihoiva
project director of “Haavi” project / Mannerheim League for Child Welfare
chair / Lyydiläinen Seura ry
