Airpro employees hope for better pay and shift allowances
We have prepared for the collective agreement negotiations by sending a survey about the collective agreement goals for our members who work at Airpro. A prominent theme in the survey responses was pay.
The median of a fair basic pay according to the respondents would be 2500 euros per month, instead of the current 2100 euros. The current shift allowances are also considered too low. The respondents hoped for a marked improvement especially to night shift allowance.
– Our members seem to have a realistic idea of a fair basic pay. It is unlikely that we can fully bridge the gap in this negotiation round, but hopefully the employer, too, understands that competition for skilled employees is going to be tough in the future, and naturally a fair pay is one of the most important things for employees, comments JHL’s bargaining specialist Jussi Päiviö who negotiates on the Airpro collective agreement.
The survey respondents also hope for a personal pay increment that the employer could use to reward better for a work well done.
– The collective agreement for Airpro already makes it possible to pay a personal pay increment, but the employer has not wanted to use it. Opening this is one of the most interesting negotiation topics of this bargaining round, Päiviö continues.
Shorter work shifts to improve employees’ well-being
In addition to pay, the survey responses also highlighted coping with work. In this respect, the goals are more fair and shorter work shifts.
– It is good to resolve certain challenges of coping with work through changes in the collective agreement during the negotiations. A local working group may be needed for more extensive improvements to coping with work, and especially for developing work shifts, comments JHL’s other Airpro negotiator, bargaining specialist Sari Jokinen.
Some of the employees want to do long work shifts that are 12 hours or even longer. They should be guaranteed the chance to do that.
The Airpro collective agreement period ends at the end of March

The current collective agreement for Airpro expires after 31 March 2025. After this date begins a period without agreement, when the obligation of industrial peace no longer applies. A period without agreement makes it possible to organise various types of industrial action.
The employees’ terms and conditions of employment, however, do not change during a period without agreement. The old collective agreement is observed until a new one is ready.
